WEB-RATINGS

Web-ratings are the internet's community-driven counterpart to the US TV content ratings (see also the MPA Film Ratings).
This page explains each web-rating and offers free graphics you can place anywhere on your own site. Linking back is optional. You're your own webmaster, after all!

DISCLAIMER: It is strongly recommended that you use the porvided WEB-ratings in addtion to a proper content warning.
Here is a live demo, hoested on-site, of how you can incorporate these into a content disclaimer: LIVE DEMO

WEB-G

WEB-G rating badge

This website is appropriate for all adults and children.
Sites with this rating contain no sexual content, no violence, and no strong language. It doesn't mean the site is made for kids or will interest them, only that most parents and guardians would be comfortable letting a young child browse it unattended.

WEB-NC-17 (No One 17 and Under Admitted) is the highest web-rating. It's for sites the webmaster believes are clearly adult and unsuitable for anyone 17 or younger.
It doesn't necessarily mean a site is pornographic. It can also be used for explicit violence, horror, sex, drugs, or fetish content. It simply means the content is for legal adults only.

HOW TO USE A BADGE

1. Pick a rating. Look through the ratings above and choose the one that honestly fits your site the best. If your content sits between two ratings, use both, or go with the higher one. If you haven't decided yet, use WEB-NOT-YET-RATED.

2. Download the WEB-rating badge. Click on a badge to open its direct img path and save it to your computer.

3. Upload it to your own site. Do not hotlink. Put the image in your site's files, such as an img folder, so it doesn't depend on Rainbow Range.

4. Copy the code. Use the snippet under your rating and replace /YOUR-IMG-PATH-HERE/ with your own site path to the WEB-rating badge.

5. Paste it into your page. Good spots are your footer, your homepage, or an entry warning page. Keep the alt text so screen readers can tell visitors what the badge says.

Ratings are self-assigned, update your badge if your content changes. Linking back here is optional, but the code snippets do include a link to each rating's permalink page. Feel free to edit the link out.
